Mentorship Program Highlights:
Mentorship is a relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps to guide a less experienced or less knowledgeable person. Mentorship is a process for sharing knowledge relevant to work, career, or professional development. The intent is to develop another’s capabilities through a one-on-one relationship that is outside a formal organizational structure.
The term mentoring comes from Greek Mythology. Mentor in his old age, was a trusted friend, counselor and teacher of Odysseus. When Odysseus left for the Trojan War he placed Mentor in charge of his palace and his son Telemachus, as protector and nurturer, until his return.
CLPNA’s goal is to assist you in meeting your ongoing career and learning needs, and we are pleased to partner with donnerwheeler to provide the Mentorship Program. In 2007, donnerwheeler in collaboration with Integral Visions Consulting Inc. developed The Five-Phase Mentoring Relationship Model which includes articulating a purpose for the mentoring relationship based on your career goal; engaging in a process to find or be a Mentor; developing an agreement and action plan; identify progress on the plan and the relationship; and finally celebrating accomplishments, redefining the relationship and examining next steps. This Model is a key component of our Mentorship Program.
The Mentorship Program provides an opportunity for LPNs to build professional networks and gain knowledge on how to better support their career goals. The program will assist the Mentee to acquire the skills needed to begin or advance on a career path, or pursue professional development opportunities.
