LPNs: Dec 1 Deadline coming for 2014 Registration Renewal

DeadlineThe deadline is closing quickly for Alberta’s Licensed Practical Nurses to ensure they can work in 2014.

Many nurses still need to go online by December 1 and complete the 2014 Registration Renewal Application with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

After December 1, the registration renewal fee will rise from $350 to $380.

The comprehensive annual application ensures LPNs are compliant with legislative requirements and CLPNA standards for the coming year.

At the completion of the Registration Renewal process, practicing members will receive an Active Practice Permit authorizing them to use the title “LPN” and work as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Alberta. This is the first year that the CLPNA is using instantly available online Practice Permits rather than mailing them out.

Working as a LPN without a valid Practice Permit constitutes unprofessional conduct and violation will subject the individual to disciplinary action. Members holding an Associate Permit are not permitted to practice nursing as a LPN.
