Hundreds of events both large and small are being planned for National Nursing Week, May 12-18, 2014, and the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) is supporting these celebrations with complimentary Special Event Kits.
The Kits contain LPN-branded items such as lip balms, hand sanitizer, glass cleaning clothes, lanyards, flashlights, sewing kits, pens, and lunch bags for distribution at these events.
Kits are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Product type and number of items in each Kit depends on the number of expected attendees and number of requests received by CLPNA. There is no guarantee of receiving one (1) item per event attendee.
Special Event Kits can be ordered until April 11 by fax or email using the Special Event Kit Request Form.
National Nursing Week is an opportunity for nurses, their employers and the public to reflect and celebrate the contributions of the nursing profession.
In 2013, over 3000 Licensed Practical Nurses in 110 Alberta healthcare facilities participated in National Nursing Week events.
In 1971, the International Council of Nurses designated May 12 (Florence Nightingale’s birthday) as International Nurses Day.
In 1985, in recognition of the dedication and achievements of the nursing profession, Canada’s Minister of Health proclaimed the second week of May as National Nursing Week.
