Strategic Plan for the LPN profession coming May 12, National Nursing Week

Ten-Year Strategic Plan“…Skate to where the puck is going… not where it has been.” – Wayne Gretzky

The much anticipated 10-year Strategic Plan to prepare the Licensed Practical Nurse profession for the future will be formally released on May 12 during National Nursing Week by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

In addition, a 3-year Business Plan will guide CLPNA initiatives in specific goals related to Education and Competence; Research and Innovation; Strategic and Future Planning; Engagement and Empowerment; Communications and Marketing; and Registration and Complaint.

The plans were created in light of anticipated changes to healthcare in Alberta in the next 10-20 years: demographics, technology, fiscal and environmental trends. Contributions to the Strategic Plan included public consultations and a Think Tank with experts from government, Alberta Health Services policy makers, stakeholders, LPNs, employers and educators. The Think Tank report is available for review.
