LPNs invited to review continuing care regulations at Open Houses

Alberta Health is undertaking a review of continuing care regulations that are expiring in 2017. LPNs working in areas such as homecare, long term care and supportive living are invited to provide feedback at one of the planned open houses across the province. These discussions will give an opportunity to learn from individuals and to share information.

The regulations under review as part of the Nursing Homes and Home Care Regulations review include the:

• Nursing Homes Operation Regulation;
• Nursing Home General Regulation; and,
• Co-ordinated Home Care Program Regulation.

The Home Care Regulation will be discussed during the morning (9 am to 12 pm). Discussion will focus on:

• The basket of services provided in home care;
• Home support services such as housekeeping and home maintenance; and,
• Meeting the needs of caregivers.

The Nursing Homes Regulations will be discussed during the afternoon (1 pm to 4:30 pm). Discussion will focus on:

• Care providers;
• Eligibility;
• Social and leisure activities; and,
• Meal requirements.
