Video: Falls and Fall-Related Injury & Prevention

Among seniors in Alberta, falls are the leading cause of injury.  Between 20-30% of seniors will fall at least once per year. A fall can have a significant impact on the lifestyle and independence of a patient or older adult.

In this video presentation on Falls and Fall-Related Injury and Prevention, the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) partners with Melanie Morgan-Reshaw from The Injury Prevention Centre to provide LPNs with information on:

  • Recognizing risk factors that may lead to a fall
  • Identifying interventions that may help patients prevent falls
  • Free Resources to provide to patients and families

Melanie Morgan-Redshaw is an Education Coordinator with the Injury Prevention Centre at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
