Professional growth through Committee involvement; Apply for 2021-2022

Licensed Practical Nurses interested in professional growth and engagement are invited to volunteer for various committees at the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) for the 2021-2022 term.

Orientation and training provided. Participants receive an honorarium and travel expenses.

The Hearing Tribunal is looking for a few LPNs who value safe and ethical nursing practice. Members of the Hearing Tribunal are the decision-makers at the disciplinary hearings of investigated complaints made against LPNs. A minimum of 7 years of nursing practice in any of the following areas is preferred: acute care, long-term care, community care, or education.

Members of this committee are required to participate in a minimum of 3 hearings per year. Each hearing is typically 1 to 2 consecutive full days. 


The Competence Committee is looking for LPNs to join them in, among other things, assessing the Learning Plans completed during annual Registration Renewal.

This committee holds scheduled meetings several times per year.


The Jurisprudence Committee requires LPNs to assist in the development of the CLPNA’s Jurisprudence Examination. One of the key committee tasks is, with the help of expert facilitators, writing multiple-choice exam questions.

Applications will be reviewed and approved by the CLPNA’s Council. Terms begin January 1, 2021.
