Volunteer Opportunity: Education Standards Advisory Committee

The Council of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) is mandated by legislation to approve new Practical Nurse (PN) entry-level, refresher, and advanced practice education programs in Alberta. To facilitate this process, the CLPNA Council has established the Education Standards Advisory Committee (ESAC).

The CLPNA leads the coordination and completes reviews of new PN entry-level, refresher, and advanced practice education programs. Following a program review, the ESAC prepares a report with recommendations for Council. Council reviews the report and determines approval status. The CLPNA, and its staff, are also responsible for the ongoing monitoring of approved programs.

There are four current vacancies for the ESAC in the following roles:

  • one (1) practicing Licensed Practical Nurse,
  • two (2) nurse educators, and
  • one (1) other member with accreditation and/or program approval experience.
