Video: Understanding Restricted Activities and Advanced Practice for LPNs

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) practice has evolved since 2003 when the regulation was first proclaimed under the Health Professions Act. The current regulation authorizes LPNs to perform a broader range of activities to support care provided to individuals and their families.

The LPN Profession Regulation identifies the LPN scope of practice related to restricted activities and advanced authorizations, including areas of advanced practice

This video provides an overview of the Standards of Practice on Restricted Activities and Advanced Practice with specific focus on the following areas:

  • Policy
  • Restricted Activities
  • Advanced Authorizations
  • Advanced Practice
  • Education Requirements

MORE INFORMATION ON RESTRICTED ACTIVITIES

For a current list of restricted activities and areas of practice requiring advanced authorization, see the Standards of Practice on Restricted Activities and Advanced Practice.

The Policy on Practice and Education Requirements for Restricted Activities and Advanced Practice outlines the requirements for LPNs performing restricted activities and in areas of advanced practice.
