Video: Falls Prevention
A fall can have a significant impact on a person’s independence and lifestyle. Among older adults in Alberta, falls are the leading cause of injury and 1 of 3 older adults will fall at least once per year.
This video, presented by Melanie Morgan-Redshaw from the Injury Prevention Centre, outlines risk factors that can lead to a fall including issues with balance and leg strength, vision, medication, cognitive issues, and home safety. Falls prevention resources that are available on the Finding Balance website are also discussed.
In this video, learn how to:
- Recognize risk factors that can lead to a fall
- Identify interventions that may help prevent falls
- Access and share falls prevention resources
