The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) is the regulatory (licensing) organization for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in Alberta, Canada.
The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) believes everyone in the health system needs to be looking forward and working together to create a high quality, responsive health system that meets the challenges of the future.
As part of CLPNA’s commitment to ensuring the Licensed Practical Nurse profession is equipped with the skills of tomorrow, the Council develops an annual Strategic Plan to guide CLPNA’s plans for the next three and 10 years.

Mission for the Profession
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) of Alberta are progressive nursing professionals who provide quality, safe, competent, and ethical care in collaboration with clients, families and other providers.
- LPNs provide holistic person-centred care including physical, psychosocial and spiritual health.
- LPNs advocate for and respect client choice and dignity.
- LPNs are accountable for the care they provide.
