“Emergency preparedness can help minimize societal disruption and increase protection for the public…”
As flu season approaches, how Licensed Practical Nurses protect Albertans during public health and other types of emergencies is the subject of a new policy from the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta.
The Practice Policy: Expectations and Obligations During Emergencies addresses standards of conduct and behaviour, as well as registration requirements for volunteering during these situations.
An additional document gets specific about pandemics: Fact Sheet: Pandemic Characteristics and Response Measures.
The Practice Policy was approved by CLPNA’s Council in September. It replaces an outdated document specific to pandemic situations: Practice Statement #14 Pandemic.
