About HCAs

The legislative mandate of a regulatory college is to protect the public. To fulfill its duty, the CLHA requires its registrants to deliver safe, competent, and ethical care.

HCAs must comply with registration requirements once regulation is in effect on February 2, 2026. This includes initial registration, obtaining professional liability insurance, annual renewal of registration, participation in continuing competence activities, and active engagement in the practice of the profession.

If you are an applicant, please see: Applicants

Registration Renewal Requirements & Process Renewal opens February 9, 2026 and must be successfully completed by April 30. Learn more about the requirements on our registration renewal page. Registration Renewal
