Care of the Older Adult Modules:
Health Promotion
Throughout 2025, the CLPNA will release modules on the care of older adults. These modules provide an evidence-informed lens to support critical thinking, professional judgement, and integrate knowledge of trends and issues related to care of the older adult.
New module: Health Promotion
Coming next: Safety, Mobility, Continence, and Comfort Care
The newest available module in the Care of the Older Adult series is Health Promotion. This module provides information that will help LPNs support their ageing clients’ well-being, including their physical, mental, and social health.
What Will LPNs Learn in this Module?
This learning module was developed based on research outlining practicing nurses’ and student nurses’ learning needs related to working with older people.
- Define well-being, psychosocial well-being, and health promotion.
- Understand health promotion for older adults.
- Explain sexuality in old age, challenges with sexuality, and nursing implications.
- Understand social relationships in old age and their meaning for older people and explain how social isolation influences those relationships.
- Understand the meaning of spirituality in old age.


How To Access Modules
All modules are accessible through a MyCLPNA account. Only specific groups, including active and provisional LPNs, certain applicants, and student members, have access.
- Visit MyCLPNA.com.
- Login using your CLPNA username and password.
- Once logged in, select the “Learning Modules” link on the lefthand side.
- Click studywithclpna.com.
- Click on Home
- Scroll down to view all modules.
To enroll in a module, click on the image/link for the module on the “Home” page. Watch the How to Access the CLPNA Learning Modules video for more information.

- Your “My Courses” page shows all modules you are currently enrolled in.
- When you complete a module, remember to go to the “Certificate” section to view and download your certificate.
- Downloaded certificates are listed under “Completed Courses” on your “Dashboard” page.
