Throughout 2025, the CLPNA will release modules on the care of older adults. These modules provide an evidence-informed lens to support critical thinking, professional judgement, and integrate knowledge of trends and issues related to care of the older adult.

Ensuring older adults’ safety and mobility is an essential component of high-quality care. During comfort rounds, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and other providers should consider a range of factors to reduce risks and support safe, competent, and ethical care.
What Will LPNs Learn in this Module?
This learning module was developed based on research outlining practicing nurses’ and student nurses’ learning needs related to working with older people.
LPNs who complete this module can expect to learn the following.
- Identify the types of safety measures used in mobilizing older adults during comfort rounds.
- Describe the risk factors (physical, psychological, and medical) involved in mobilizing older adults during mobility.
- Apply knowledge of assessment of risk of injury before and during mobilization and when performing comfort care duties.
- Identify barriers to effective mobilization, safety, continence, and comfort and the strategies to mitigate them.
- Understand and apply the standard principles in safety and mobility of older persons.
How To Access Modules
All modules are accessible through a MyCLPNA account. Only specific groups, including active and provisional LPNs, certain applicants, and student members, have access.
- Visit MyCLPNA.com.
- Login using your CLPNA username and password.
- Once logged in, select the “Learning Modules” link on the lefthand side.
- Click studywithclpna.com.
- Click on Home
- Scroll down to view all modules.

- When you complete a module, remember to go to the “Certificate” section to view and download your certificate.
- Downloaded certificates are listed under “Completed Courses” on your “Dashboard” page.
