Council Connections: June 2025
The CLPNA is pleased to welcome Dean Welke as a new public Council member and Candace Frey as a new regulated Council member.
Dean Welke, Public Member
Dean holds a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Athabasca University, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Alberta and a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation. His extensive background in senior leadership spans many organizations, particularly in the not-for-profit sector, with University Hospital Foundation, Women Building Futures, and OpenCircle. Dean brings board experience and a commitment to volunteerism, with experience serving as a Board Member with the Fringe Theatre, Parkinson Association of Alberta, and as an auxiliary constable with the RCMP.
Candace Frey, Regulated Member
Candace has been an LPN for 17 years with over a decade in men’s health. She has served a Clinical Manager and Sexual Health Clinician focusing on patient education, clinic efficiencies, and inclusive care. Candace has proven leadership abilities and was the winner of the Laura Crawford Excellence in Nursing Practice Award for consistently demonstrating excellence in practice through exemplary nursing knowledge, skills, attitude, and judgment; promoting and atmosphere of teamwork; pride in the profession; and mentoring team members.
