Introduction to Healthcare
Regulation in Alberta

The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) has launched a series of short videos to introduce regulation for Health Care Aides (HCAs).

The Health Statutes Amendment Act (2020) provides for the future regulation of HCAs in Alberta, but regulation has not yet been proclaimed. When regulation is proclaimed, the CLPNA will become one college with two distinct professions: Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides.

This series of short videos will provide HCAs, LPNs, members of the public, and other interested parties with background on healthcare regulation and its importance for public safety and ethical practice.
