Opportunities for LPNs to Participate in Research
Three research studies are actively recruiting LPN participants through the end of April. Descriptions of the studies, and who can participate, are below.
Study 1: IENs Providing Care for Older Adults
A Canada-wide study out of Sinai Health’s Healthy Ageing and Geriatrics Program is exploring the experiences and needs of Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs), their educators, and managers in providing care for older adults (65+). This study aims to inform better support strategies for IENs in geriatric care. The researchers are looking for nurses, IENs, nursing educators, and nursing managers to participate in focus groups. Focus groups will accommodate participants’ availability to ensure participation is convenient. Participants will receive a gift card of their choice as a token of appreciation. If you are interested in learning more about the study, please contact Bushra Alam at bushraa.alam@mail.utoronto.ca.
Study 2: LPNs Providing Care to Individuals Receiving Home Care Services
A Canada-wide study out of the University of Alberta is looking for LPNs who provide care to individuals receiving home care services. The study explores how social, sensory, and cognitive characteristics of home care clients influence the care they receive. Participants will take part in a 45-minute individual Zoom interview discussing how these factors intersect and how a new prediction tool could support client care. A $25 grocery gift card will be offered as a thank-you for participating. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Fernanda at fenglerd@ualberta.ca or call 1-877-692-5909.
Study 3: LPNs Practising in Rural Hospital Settings
Are you an LPN practicing in a rural hospital setting? Researchers from the University of Lethbridge are seeking participants for the study The Health and Wellbeing of Frontline Healthcare Professionals. The study aims to guide work towards improved health and wellbeing of frontline healthcare professionals and better work environments. Participants are asked to complete a 30-minute online survey and will be entered into a draw for a $60 gift card.
