Provide Your Feedback: Standards of Practice for LPNs on Restricted Activities, Advanced Practice, and Supervision
The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) is seeking feedback on an update to the Standards of Practice for LPNs on Restricted Activities, Advanced Practice, and Supervision. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and other interested parties can provide their feedback by November 14, 2025.
What Are These Standards?
The Standards of Practice on Restricted Activities, Advanced Practice, and Supervision outline the minimum standards and expectations that an LPN must adhere to when performing restricted activities and advanced practice.
What Are the Proposed Changes?
As part of a regular review of standards and other documents, the CLPNA has updated the Standards of Practice to optimize LPN practice in alignment with current education and the Health Professions Restricted Activity Regulation. The Standards of Practice have been revised to improve readability, enhance clarity, and remove references to outdated documents.
The document is branded for the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). The CLPNA will become the CLHA when Health Care Aide regulation comes into force on February 2, 2026.
