Registration Renewal Is Going to Look a Little Different This Year

The CLPNA has implemented several changes for the upcoming renewal period. On September 6th, LPNs received an email listing these changes, which are explained below.

REGISTRATION RENEWAL WILL OPEN ON OCTOBER 10.

Registrants should renew before December 1, 2023, to pay the lowest fee.

REGISTRANTS ARE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN THEIR OWN PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE.

In previous years, professional liability insurance was obtained by the CLPNA on behalf of our registrants.

LPNs are now required to purchase this insurance separate from the renewal fee. The insurance required is outlined in the CLPNA Bylaws, and you are encouraged to review the requirements prior to purchasing insurance.

There are two options for obtaining insurance.

OPTION ONE – The CLPNA is offering a link directly from renewal to Lloyd Sadd. If purchased through the link, once you refresh your renewal, we will get a message back stating that you have the right coverage.

OPTION TWO – Registrants can find their own provider and upload a copy of the policy documents when they renew.

THE 2024 CONTINUING COMPETENCE PROGRAM WILL BE BASED ON THE STANDARDS OF PRACTICE.

When LPNs renew this year, they will use the Standards of Practice for LPNs in Canada to develop their 2024 learning plan.

In previous years, LPNs have used the Competency Profile as a reference for their Continuing Competence learning plan. When reporting on their 2023 plan, LPNs will still use the Competency Profile as a reference.

THE 2024 PRACTICE PERMIT IS AN 11-MONTH PERMIT.

We are moving our registration year from January 1 – December 31 to December 1 – November 30. To support the transition to the new dates, the 2024 permit will be effective for eleven months instead of twelve. The renewal fee has been adjusted accordingly.

Note that next year’s registration renewal will open in mid-September and close on November 30.
