The CLPNA Welcomes New General Counsel
The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Katrina Haymond as our new General Counsel effective February 3rd, 2025. Katrina brings 27 years of experience in the legal field, including 23 years as a lawyer at Field Law where she was outside general counsel to professional regulatory organizations in Alberta, including the CLPNA, providing legal assistance and representation in areas such as discipline, registration, continuing competence, unauthorized practice, governance and review of legislation and policies. Katrina has represented clients in judicial reviews and appeals in all levels of Court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition to professional regulation, Katrina also has experience in other areas of administrative law, including privacy, labour, and policing.
Katrina’s impact extends to her published work as a co-author of the Annotated Health Professions Act and collaborating with the Alberta Federation of Regulated Health Professions to develop resources to strengthen disciplinary processes. Katrina has volunteered for the Canadian Bar Association and is a member and past volunteer with the Edmonton Down Syndrome Society.
