The Code of Ethics is an integral part of the knowledge and competence of a Licensed Practical Nurse. LPNs must use a code of ethics and an ethical framework when making professional judgments and practice decisions. They must engage in critical thinking and inquiry to inform decision-making and use self-reflection to understand the impact of personal values, beliefs and assumptions in the provision of care. This Learning Module was developed to assist LPNs to become familiar with the Code of Ethics and to provide them with the knowledge and skills to apply the Code in their daily nursing practice.
