To work as an LPN in Alberta, individuals must be registered and have a valid practice permit from the CLPNA.
To be registered with the CLPNA, you must complete an application and meet all necessary requirements in the Policy: Declarations and Registration Requirements. For more information, please see: Registration Information.
The CLPNA has different application types for different types of applicants. You can select your application type from the list below. If you are not sure which application is the correct one for you, you can use the tool below.
For applicants who have graduated from an approved program in Alberta and never held registration in another province.
For applicants who are currently registered in another Canadian jurisdiction.
For applicants who have completed a program outside of Alberta but have not written a registration exam.
For applicants who have completed a program outside of Alberta and have written a registration exam.
For applicants who were educated and work outside of Canada.
For applicants who were registered as an Alberta LPN and want to be registered again.
For applicants registered in another Canadian jurisdiction practicing in Alberta for less than three months.
