2023 Advancing Regulatory Knowledge Research Grant Recipient

In 2023, the CLPNA ran a call for proposals for the Advancing Regulatory Knowledge Research Grant. The grant aims to fund high quality research that advances knowledge about the Practical Nurse (PN) profession and health regulation, and that aligns with our mandate of protecting the public. The CLPNA would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the research teams who submitted proposals.

Following a rigorous review process, the CLPNA awarded the 2023 research grant to Dr. Venise Bryan from Athabasca University for the pilot study, Practical Nursing Students’ Perspectives on the Transition Experience from Health Care Aide to Licensed Practical Nurse Role. The study will explore how healthcare aides pursuing PN education transition to the LPN role and what helps make that transition successful. This study will offer insights into the experiences of this cohort of PN students and the supports needed for their successful entry into the workforce as LPNs.

Congratulations to Dr. Bryan and her team! The CLPNA is excited for the learning from this important research and its contribution to advancing knowledge on the practical nurse profession.
