LPNs: you are required to complete the CLPNA module, Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct, prior to renewing your registration for 2026. If you have not completed this module before the November 30, 2025, deadline, you may not be able to renew.

This module is completed through CLPNA’s Learning Management System, which can be accessed through your MyCLPNA account.

If you have already completed this module, there is no need to take it again.

Understand Your Professional Responsibilities

To protect public safety, Alberta’s legislation provides clear definitions of behaviours that constitute sexual misconduct or sexual abuse. The Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct module provides LPNs with an understanding of this legislation and related standards and guidelines.

Complete in Under Two Hours

This module is self-directed, and it takes most individuals less than two hours to complete.

When you have finished the final exam for the CLPNA learning module, proof of completion will be shown on your MyCLPNA account. You can verify that you have successfully completed the module on your dashboard under “Exams.” It will show as “Protecting Patients from Sexual Abuse and Sexual M” and “Passed.”

Use the Module for Your Continuing Competence

Completion of this module is required before you renew your registration for 2026, and you may use it to satisfy a requirement for the Continuing Competence Program.

Indicator 2.11: Demonstrate continuing professional development, including compliance with jurisdictional requirements related to continuing competence (i.e. Continuing Competence Program, Quality Assurance Program).
