Documents that define and outline the legal and professional expectation for LPNs in Alberta.
This tool provides guidance to determine if an area of practice or specific competency is appropriate for an LPN.
The legislative mandate of the CLPNA is to protect the public. To fulfill its duty, CLPNA requires its registrants to deliver safe, competent, and ethical nursing care.
LPNs must comply with registration requirements as set out by the CLPNA. This includes initial registration upon completion of an approved practical nurse program or equivalent, annual renewal of registration, participation in continuing competence activities, and active engagement in the practice of the profession.
