Exploring Wellness: 2014 CLPNA Conference challenges nurses

SC2014 web2Invitations are out to “Explore Wellness” at the next annual Conference and Annual General Meeting for the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) coming April 30 – May 2, 2014.

More than 400 Licensed Practical Nurses, health care professionals, managers and employers will be challenged to focus on patient centered care by becoming more attuned to the context of people’s lives, the real needs of patients, and the factors affecting their health.

Expert speakers and provocative discussion will provide delegates with new knowledge, counter existing biases, and build alternative perspectives to challenge each nurse to make a difference in the communities they serve and for the patients they interact with each day.

Keynote with educator, author Barb Bancroft

This year’s opening keynote speaker is Barb Bancroft. Bancroft, RN MSN PNP has provided more than 2200 continuing education seminars on topics pertaining to pathophysiology, physical assessment, nutrition, and pharmacology to health care professionals throughout the United States and Canada.

In additional to keynote speakers and concurrent presentations, the Conference features the CLPNA’s Annual General Meeting, fancy-dress Awards Dinner, 100’s of fund-raising items at the Silent Auction, and dozens of health care exhibitors. Breakfast and lunch are provided.

Call for Abstracts

A Call for Abstracts for 20 minute or 60 minute presentations has also been released. The abstract submission deadline is January 27, 2014.

The CLPNA hosts it’s annual two-day professional development Conference for Licensed Practical Nurses to come together and learn from their peers, employers, educators, and industry experts. The event location typically alternates between Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta in the spring.
