Over 600 LPNs averaged $400 each in Education Grants in 2013

Foundation Grant ProgramEligible CLPNA Members are encouraged to take advantage of the Education Grant Program to receive up to $1000 per year in tuition reimbursement for continuing education courses.

In 2013, over 600 LPNs received an average of $400 each for education that “enhances the role of the LPN”, and some received the maximum of $1000. Upcoming quarterly Application Deadlines are April 30, July 31, and October 31.

Popular areas of study include Foot Care, Gerontology, Immunization, IM/ID Injections, Infusion Therapy, Leadership, Mental Health, Orthopedics, Palliative Care, and Research.

Funding for Bachelor-degree programs is also available for those that “support LPNs remaining in the profession”. For example, a Degree in Human Service Administrator.

The Fredrickson-McGregor Education Foundation for LPNs administers the Education Grant Program on behalf of the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). In 2006, the CLPNA received a $3.3 million endowment from Alberta Health and Wellness to support continuing education needs of LPNs.
