Elder Abuse Awareness in 30 minutes: Video

By 2030, 23% of Canadians will be over the age of 65 and this may lead to increased instances of elder abuse. Many Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) work in close contact with older persons in various care settings and are in a unique position to understand how abuse can be prevented and support those who have been abused or are experiencing abuse.

This educational video with Nicole Downey, MSW, RSW, Elder Abuse Social Worker and Team Lead with Carya, was designed to bring awareness to the issue of elder abuse and provide strategies that can be used to support older persons where abuse is suspected or a person has disclosed that they are being abused.

This video will:

  • Provide a definition and identify forms of Elder Abuse
  • Help you recognize the warning signs and symptoms of Elder Abuse
  • Give you tools and resources to respond to and prevent Elder Abuse

  1. Very good video. I really enjoyed it. Speaker was clear and concise…did not run off up and down like previous video speaker. Good points for sure.
