The Policy on Actively Engaged Requirements for Registration and the Continuing Competence Program has been updated to include a new criteria to demonstrate being “actively engaged” for the purpose of registration. This update impacts individuals who do not meet the practice hours requirement or those who have been out of nursing practice for less than 10 years.
Under section 3(2)(c) of the Licensed Practical Nurses Profession Regulation, an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) has been approved by Council to meet the practice hours requirement if an individual does not currently meet the 1000 practice hours in the previous 4 years or has been out of nursing practice for less than 10 years.
